[DFFOO JP][Kain IW Lufenia+] MVP Shadow w/ Caius, Lenna, Kain as friend, Mog CA and Shiva Summon
So I tried a few comps to work with shadow taking the painful route (taking recast) such as Kimarhi with his absolute blind (only does not work with Boss recast) and Mog in the field with constant cleansing, it went well until the end where their damage simply was not enough. So I tried Lenna and Shadow again but this time with Kain. The more I see it the more I want him haha.
Rationale for Lenna and Mog:
In general, with Mog CA, as long as you don't take back to back recast and AOEs, you can take the hits with Lenna's HP buffs. I find it best to cleanse with Mog CA when you gain 2 stacks of debuff so boss don't go crazy and you won't take a crap ton of HP poison damage, especially when Shadow takes many turns at one time. If you get lucky, Mog may confuse the boss as well.
Shadow:
The main problem with using shadow in this fight is his LD buff Assassinate. If you renew his buffs with his S1/EX without any external buffs, his LD buff would be pushed to the leftmost position and get dispelled. Several solution is available for this:
1. Apply external buffs before LD (e.g. Lenna's S2/Cait Sith S1/LD CA)
2. Leave a minor buff to be dispelled without renewal (S1 buff)
3. Drain the buff duration of your LD buff by timing uses and using his high turn rate, so that when it is dispelled, it is left with 1 or 2 turns
Another potential problem is, Shadow's only means of AOE BRV damage to upkeep the orb is his LD, so taking down one boss before another or pushing one's HP further down is advised, especially when Lenna is not exactly having AoE BRV hits either on her S2/LD and the variation of her HP attack gained from LD uses. This is where Kain comes in.
Using Shadow has the following advantages:
1. Many consecutive turns and high turn rate to exploit Kain's air time
2. Ignore defence damage so his damage will always be high
3. His counter from dodge can keep the orb up at boss turns
In all honesty, the BT user is less important in this run, Shadow pretty much destroyed the right boss on his own lol.
Kain:
After his LD and his W Jump, he stays up in the air and throws out his Lancet follow-up without consuming his BRV. He also joins chase attacks without consuming BRV. Therefore when he is up there, you can spam Shadow's turns with high turn rate or his consecutive turns with his LD buff at 3 stacks. Also, he would take advantages of Caius's launches normally and in his BT phase on both enemies. So he can throw out extra 160K+ + launch bonus damage whenever it happens.
He is also the key to keep both orbs at a maximum of 10 so I can get through the middle portion of the fight without ever worrying about the orb. As soon as one boss is down, this point has much less significance. So as a friend unit it is much more optimal to get him in early.
Note: He probably pairs up even better with Vayne and Shadow, since they get much more turns to exploit his air time. Caius however, is excellent at pushing both bosses away while the bosses have Divine Shiva's freeze on, and Caius needs less help in dishing out damage (evident as I tried them both non-synergy in Guy's Lufenia) especially when Lenna is out. His poison also keep the boss's BRV at bay before Shiva is out.
Shiva:
The boss is naturally weak to ice and the framed freeze from the divine upgrade would allow you to ignore one recast, even should you run out of turn pushes.
Extra tips for the orb:
During launch, hitting BRV attack with a range unit is not a bad idea to uptick the orb.
