DFFOO [JP][Memoria Battle 1] 1 range PT w/ Irvine, Fujin boosting Aranea vs Junctioned Griever
Honestly the first one is pretty simple if you have some kind of rainbow BRV dmg. I guess they didn't throw in all kinds of HP dmg reduction just because it is the first one.
HP wise it is very high. it may have around 500m and 600+m in each phase (I just estimate based on % and Aranea's dmg lol). Maybe you can find the exact values on compendium or something later.
This is a 2nd attempt after the initial clear. The only thing I ever changed was using Leviathan instead of Pandemonium as summon because it felt a bit bad due to reduced battery. Though I can tell you that in the end, the difference is like 1 or 2% more HP dmg after Aranea BT phase concluded and cut the turn used by 3, as you can see the difference between the beginning and the end screens. It may have saved ... 20s? lol
I didn't use Astos. I just wanted to use Irvine with a full range party, so I went with this. Turned out you can 1 PT this just fine. I was kind of impatient of staying at 451%, so I just FT a second time (gotta go play FFXIV lol).
Also, I really appreciate that May be I am a Lion is the new BGM instead of the Extreme.
Before boss info, these are some notes on the setting of Memoria Battle:
- You can switch party at any point of your choosing. There is no turn limit bound to a party.
- FG and HP bonus retains between switches
- To get all rewards (especially all 3000 brilliance crystals), you need to perfect the stage:
1. within 2 PT
2. within an even lower number of turns required by the perfect conditions
3. boosted full party*
* The entire party is boosted if you use even just one character from the same series as the boss. So in this case, you just need 1 FFVIII characters to match Junctioned Griever for a full party boost.
Full party boost also gives you 50% initial FG aside from stats, just like what having 3 synergy characters does for a normal stage.
Boss: Junctioned Griever (phase 1/2)
0%: ATK, BRV dmg/gain (80%) and HP dmg-
FA: Meteor++ (gauranteed hit, AOE BRV+HP)
FT: 10T
- 100% BRV dmg taken-
- 50% HP dmg taken-
- DEF+
Weakness: (cancel FT)
FA that deals range BRV dmg and inflict at least 1 debuff
HP thresholds:
1st phase:
80%: Absorbing the flow of time:
- cannot see boss turns
- AD-, SPD+
- massive BRV dmg taken- (basically 1 BRV dmg)
This status is removed when the boss has got 3 actions.
30%: Form Shift
- Remove all debuffs
- Heal to 100% HP (enter phase 2)
2nd phase:
80%: Time distortion
- Remove 1 framed debuff
- massive HP dmg-
- Guaranteed 3 silver framed buffs
This status is removed if you remove 1 or more buffs from the boss
* This also happens if you swap party while the boss has no buffs.
40%: Absorbing the flow of time (2nd time)
General Approach:
Boss basically has 2 Shinryu boss HP bar, so you would be looking at a slightly longer fight. Though if you use big dmg dealers or insane follow-up strat, it probably doesn't deviate much from the norm.
The boss doesn't hurt much. As you can see, I just face tank the boss FA with breaks and heal with Irvine EX or Lunafreya's CA. If you want to feel safe, a WoL CA will go a long way.
I can't tell you much about her normal moves though. Seeing that her turns can disappear, I just didn't give her any turns to cause any trouble.
Other than that, there are mainly two obstacles: her BRV dmg taken reductions from absorbing time flow (80% for 1st and 40% for 2nd) +, FT effect and HP dmg reduction from the 80% HP effect in 2nd phase.
Dispelling the time flow absorption effect is annoying, because you need to let her have 3 turns and it happens twice in the entirety of the fight. Coupled with her turns disappearing from view and not guaranteed consecutive turns, it drags out for a long time.
A convenient way to circumvent this is just to employ the use of rainbow dmg. Setzer (RNG)/Quina/Neon (fire) or Irvine (range) will bypass this and let you ignore the boss turns interactions entirely.
As for the HP dmg reduction, since it is just one debuff needed to be removed for the entire states to be altered, you can just equip one character that can break with a Vanille E sphere for a seamless removal.
Alternatively, since this only happens outside of BT/summon phase, you can use a dispel CA during downtime after your major DPS phase.
Since the boss remove debuffs, I didn't bother with Keiss or other CAs. I swapped to Leviathan for the 50% dmg BRV refund (need them on Irvine and Fujin) as a replacement. As mentioned before though, using Fujin's weakness BRV battery with Pandemonium didn't feel as good, but the result is not as dramatically different as I had thought.
You can stay at 451% as long as Irvine's BT is active. I just didn't have the patience so I just saved a Fujin FR for a second go with a Lunafreya buffed Aranea. You can definitely 1 FT this, but since force retention is a thing, it is not a bad idea to go a 2nd time with Irvine FG charging using only 2 LDs.
