DFFOO [JP][Act 4 Chapter 5 Part 2] Launching that Evil Tree and Juggle It
Fujin coming back with a vengeance and the first opponent is the evil tree after transforming once. Which force of nature will win? Launches from a Tornado or the plants?
I got 2 Fujin BT before I even got the FR. I also attempted to get Zidane FR to no avail while I was getting Fujin FR. Have to reserve some for Laguna, so Zidane will stay there for now.
Also this is the first HP bump we are seeing after FE 50. From what I understand, it has the most HP as a ST boss standing at 600m this time. Keep in mind the story chapters bosses are generally stronger than your IWs, LCs and what not. So take it as you will when you assess future trends.
And on that note, the tree is still mechanically very difficult.
Boss: Exdeath (Boss Phase)
Force: (accelerated charge, assume this unless specify for future ref)
50/70%: ATK/DEF/BRV dmg up I/II
FA: Meteor+ ( AOE Magic BRV+HP)
FT: 10T
- rainbow BRV dmg (susceptible to absorption and nullification)
- 100% HP dmg recovery at the end of turn
Weakness: (cancel FT)
FA that either:
- deals Wind BRV dmg; or
- inflicts at least 1 debuff
HP thresholds:
30/50/70%: "Filled with the intent to kill" (red aura)
- massive DEF+
- HP dmg taken -
- use "Meteor++" (guaranteed hit, very strong AOE BRV+HP)
when it is Exdeath's turns
*red aura is dispelled after you launch Exdeath
General Approach:
Mechanically not very challenging, but you need to look out for the Meteor+ or Meteor++ and red aura threshold event.
If you don't allow Exdeath to actually have a turn, then the only thing you have to worry about is the DEF+/HP dmg- from the red aura and the FA Meteor+. Since there is no intensive HP dmg+ for Exdeath, you can stick a WoL CA or Raijin LDCA to get through the FA HP dmg.
If you have Fujin or you are using launches but not a BT phase, you would want to somewhat delay Exdeath so that he doesn't get to use Meteor++ and maximise the number of chase participants. Turn deletion from Zidane, delays from Aranea are some of the great choices you can have here in addition to Fujin's own delays. Turn manipulation also helps. With Cid Raines getting FE 50, this is also a very good place to use him.
Regarding Fujin:
Fujin got a big rework on that FR through FR board, FE 50 and BT in one go. These combined not only streamlined the launches when you have her in the party, it also makes her FR a very strong one to use as the starter.
FR:
Her FR used to give HP bonuses only when you launch with Fujin and when the party does wind BRV dmg.
Now with the FR extension, much like FuSoYa's FR, the bonus from self launch is now extended to the entire party and with 20% additional bonus. (60%)
The Wind BRV dmg bonus is also increased to 30%. So now getting all conditions right would net you a base of 90% and it is pretty easy to get there if your characters do not have inherit elements in their attacks.
Not only that, her FR now also refunds 10% HP dmg back as BRV, somewhat like a built-in Keiss debuff. It also gives you a slight HP dmg up in launches with 20% HP dmg cap up.
One can say she has pull out the reverse UNO card for her FR.
BT:
I must say I am a fan of that Tornado Zone (Pandemonium, wink) arena change in her animation. The rest of the animation may be okish, but that really caught my eye.
Her BT is also quite loaded and synergise quite well with her FR and the rest of what she does.
Firstly, her BT enables everyone to initiate a launch. So you will always fulfil the launch requirement for her FR.
Then it also has BRV gain up for her FR BRV refund for launches and default LD effect that grants party BRV when hitting weakness.
The most intriguing effect of all is she doubles the chase wall splat dmg, scaling with the number of participants:
No particiants: 20% (10+10)
1 participant: 30% (15+15)
2 participants: 40%
3 participants: 50%
By participants, it does not include the person who initiate the launches. Therefore with 2 other party members having turns before bosses for participation is very important (unless you are in BT phase) to get to the 40% extra wall splat dmg.
As of this moment, only Cid Raines and Aranea (BT) can have the 3 participant configuration, since they have the self-aerial follow-up after all the other chases are done.
Naturally, this will also mean high single move burst dmg dealers would benefit from this more than usual. If you put in someone like Astos right now, his launches would deal 20% more dmg than usual.
I am just bringing Aranea/Cid Raines to enjoy the 50% bonus multiple times with Cid Raines also buffing launch HP dmg cap up. Having higher single hit dmg or stacking more HP dmg cap up would allow you to take better advantage of this effect at 40% for most other team combos.
Finally, Fujin herself also gets a 50% self cap up. This is to compensate for her having no follow-up or insane dumps on one attack.
