DFFOO [JP][Short] Chapter 5 Part 2, Astos Wall Rush Edition with Fujin BT/Cor
13Just a snippet of what Astos has become when you have Fujin BT to enhance the wall rush dmg bonus and sprinkle some preemptive strike with Cor before you launch.
I also added Leo LDCA for good measure.
In this setup, it is the most common launch-chase pattern you can have with an ordinary party. With Fujin BT, it buffs the wall rush bonus to 40% with 2 people in a chase while Astos is using his BT.
Since only dmg before a launch is taken into account when the wall rush bonus is applied, preemptive strike actually adds to this much more nicely than follow-ups, unless they are immediate self follow-up that happens before launch. Off-turn from others would not be considered.
For example:
Tifa's BT follow-up happens before launch, so it counts.
Leo's BT follow-up on others' turn happen after launch, so it doesn't.
Jihl's Behemoth self follow-up is a separate mechanic that happens after launches, so it doesn't count as well even though it is caused by herself.
Also, this mechanic favours a single move that does huge ST dmg. So Astos S1/Enna Kros LD/Locke HP+/Noel's EX can utilise this to great effect and get a lot of extra dmg from the amplification.
Why Cor?
With this in mind, Weiss/Cor can be good partners to add dmg to said ST dmg dealers, in addition to Fujin of course.
In this one, I chose Cor because he offers Astos more mBRV and HP dmg up, so Astos would have a much easier time hitting the 999,999 hard cap.
More?
Weiss technically should do more because his preemptive hits 3 times with additional HP dmg on anyone that does full cap dmg and with a UW that is not in the same category as Astos. Though beware of these:
1. Weiss does not offer as much support as Cor, so Astos, the main dmg dealer, may not be hitting 999,999 at all times.
2. Weiss's additional HP dmg does not work on Astos, because Astos does not have a capped (hard cap is not his cap). Thus, Astos cannot take advantage of his mechanic, same goes for Aerith's Holy.
Additionally, you can improve the output with all people having UW and higher FE or crystal passives that increases caps. Here the unique UW is on Astos not Cor, and my throw weapon UW on Fujin is +0.
With that being said, there is still not a boss that can withstand Astos's wrath. As you can see, even the 600m HP tree ran out of juice and shut down the additional dmg from Leo's LDCA here.
