I talk about my own card authentication process, show some of the tools that I use to authenticate cards, including microscope lenses, visual tests, touch tests, light tests, and even subjecting and sacrificing multiple cards to the rip test…
We explore various tests, methods and procedures we can use to test Magic cards and look for deviations to identify fakes, counterfeits and proxy cards.
Not every card can get sent out for grading and a card grader might not be beside you for every purchase. The more educated every individual is in the MTG community, the safer we and all our collections will be.
Some of these procedures will also help with maintaining your cards, being able to visually see and inspect the card surfaces for dust, debris and micro fibres using various zoom lenses. Ensuring a clean and micro debris free surface is important before putting your card into perfect fit sleeves or slabbing a card!
