In this Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti review, we'll be benchmarking the card against both an RTX 3070 and a geforce RTX 3080 and asking if Nvidia did enough to make the RTX 3070 Ti a compelling purchase.
The big upgrade for the RTX 3070 Ti is a significant increase in memory bandwidth thanks to the inclusion of GDDR6X memory over the GDDR6 which is found in the RTX 3070. The card also sports an extra two SMs enabled, which in turn raises both tensor core and RT core count too. There's also significantly higher TDP headroom in the RTX 3070 Ti, with a TDP of 290W.
During our benchmarks, we focus on both 4K and 1440P, though the RTX 3070 Ti is most comfortable with high refresh rate 1440P gaming, though is 4k capable, particularly with DLSS enabled titles.
The MSRP of the RTX 3070 Ti is $599 USD, with the RTX 3080 FE cards having an MSRP of $699 and the RTX 3070 of $499. Overall, in our performance testing, the RTX 3070 is about 10 percent slower (on average) in GPU demanding workloads, whilst the RTX 3080 comfortably outpaces out the RTX 3070 Ti.
We benchmarked the RTX 3070 Ti using an Intel 10900K at 5.1GHz all cores, 32GB RAM, and all games were installed on an SSD. We're using the press driver, which Nvidia supplied to us and is version 466.61. The RTX 3070 Ti was sent to us by Nvidia for purposes of review, although all opinions are our own.
