The latest Xbox GDK update, which effects both the next gen Xbox Series X and the Xbox One series of consoles, brings a HUGE performance INCREASE as well as support for AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (or AMD FSR) as well as new FPS targets being opened to developers.
We examine exactly what the latest Xbox GDK update brings to the Xbox Series X, including of course examining the impact of AMD's FSR upsampling technology. The Xbox Series X of course already has DirectML, a machine learning based technology that can be used to improve visual quality. The possibilities for exactly how FidelityFX Super Resolution could be used on the XSX are very exciting. So the big question is, what can we expect outside of the Xbox performance INCREASE? And will Sony push to also support AMD's FSR upsampling tech on the Playstation 5?
Of course, the PS5 is also powered by an AMD RDNA 2 custom GPU, so we may expect to see AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution come to the PS5 GDK as well.
