Great care was taken to protect the environment and art in the Louvre Museum in Paris. No equipment was allowed inside during the opening hours, and all filming took place at night. Light wasn’t allowed to shine on the Mona Lisa, so they ended up using a replica instead. The wooden floors were not allowed to get any blood or mysterious writings on them, so all of those scenes were shot at Pinewood Studios outside of London. Five replicas of the Mona Lisa ended up being made. Officials from Westminster Abbey also refused to let filming take place in the Abbey. They claimed that the book is theologically unsound, so the filming took place at Lincoln Cathedral in eastern England.
