Disney World Secrets - The Forgotten Equatorial Africa of Epcot's World Showcase - Hidden History
We're taking a look behind the scenes at Walt Disney World, sharing some interesting Disney Park history and facts about the Disney World theme park of Epcot. Specifically we discuss one of the forgotten World Showcase pavilions known as Equatorial Africa and uncover its African cultural influences. Equatorial Africa was planned and designed for EPCOT at Walt Disney World, but never built! Learn more about it in this video.
Equatorial Africa is truly one of Epcot's hidden gems. Epcot was Walt Disney World's 2nd theme park and it is the 2nd largest Disney World theme park! World Showcase is like a giant world's fair and is home to 11 different Country Pavilions including Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, the United States, Italy, Germany, China, Norway and Mexico. Not one of those countries represent Sub-Saharan Africa. The African area of the World Showcase known as African Outpost or Refreshment Outpost was made after the plans for the Equatorial Africa pavilion was abandoned. Now we'll be taking a look at the hidden secrets and facts around this forgotten part of the park.
The African countries we talk about in today's video include Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa, and more. Although Morocco is a great choice for a North African pavilion at the World Showcase, Epcot should really have a better representation of Sub-Saharan Africa than just the Outpost. It could show African Kingdoms and African cultures. Also, in this video I make a recommendation for a new pavilion. So I hope you enjoy learning all the culture facts about this hidden part of Disney's history.
