A look at a Final Fantasy character who was radically changed during the concept art stage of the development of Final Fantasy II. The character in question for today's Forgotten Final Fantasy Characters video is named Paul who did appear in the final game but looks completely different from how he looked in the original concept art of Final Fantasy 2. In his original design Paul appears to be a black man. Plus, he kinda looks like an African warrior. So, in this video I purpose some fan fiction style views on how this character could be reintroduced in Final Fantasy II. In particular my suggestions lean into the African aesthetic and I suggest that the character can take influences from the Maasai people of Kenya. The FF series, especially the early FF games would benefit from having more diversity. So I really think that a Final Fantasy II should bring this character design back, made by Yoshitaka Amano, in a proper remake. The gaming industry needs more black RPG characters.

We do a small recap and review of Final Fantasy 2 as well.

Final Fantasy II, made by Square Enix AKA Squaresoft, is the story of 4 youths who take up arms and join a rebellion against an evil emperor who unleashes monsters from hell to try to conquer the world. Final Fantasy 2 has been heavily criticized over the years and is often considered to be the worst entry in the main series. Despite that I find the game to be very fascinating so I'd like to make some suggestions on how a proper remake could improve the game. How can we improve what is considered to be the black sheep of the Final Fantasy franchise? Well watch the video and hear me out. My suggestions include changing things like FF2's unfair and brutal dungeons that are filled with trap doors. As well as suggesting that the battle system of Final Fantasy II be remade to be more like Final Fantasy X. Furthermore I recommend that Final Fantasy II be remade in 3D with fully voice acted scenes so that we can feel the drama of the story more. And importantly, the characters of Final Fantasy II Firion, Maria, Guy, Leon, and more need to be given more depth to their character development in order for FF2 to truly stand along side the other games in the Final Fantasy series; as it should.

Hope you enjoy our discussion of Final Fantasy II.
