With the release of the Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Remake, I decided it's a good time to playthrough the Lilo & Stitch game, or to be more specific, the PS1 game that follows the plot to the movie. Like Pixar's Monsters, Inc., Lilo & Stitch would end up seeing several games during the movie's release. This game, a run and gun game for GBA which takes place sometime after the movie & Stitch: Experiment 626 for PS2 is a prequel to the movie that is based of the opening part of the movie. I'm only gonna be playing the PS1 game for now as I haven't played the GBA & PS2 games much.

The original Lilo & Stitch Movie is another one of my favorite Disney movies. The movie does a good job of mixing humor and arguably some heavy and deep topics. The characters are very memorable and pretty relatable, the animation is pretty good and impressive given the low budget it had, the setting in Hawaii hitting me right at home as where I live (which I'm not saying) has a bunch of beaches and luscious greenery, and top notch voice acting.

Unfortunately, this is one of those Disney franchises that has been Milked dry with 3 direct to video movies, 2 tv series, a fucking Anime of all things, and recently a pointless live action remake of the first movie just so Disney can get free money. This franchise has also had a ton of games as well, though like I said I'm only playing the PS1 game for now.

This game is alright. The game takes inspiration from the Classic Crash Bandicoot Games, but just made it into a generic platformer. It doesn't do anything that complicated with the levels and it can start to feel repetitive after a while. The controls are kind of stiff, the graphics are fine, but nothing to right home about, the "bosses" being pretty pathetic and the game is really short, only clocking in about 1 hour, so it feels like that the devs made this game just to get quick cash, but even with all of that. The only positives I have is that the music is pretty good and most of the cast from the movie came back to reprise their roles and they do a good job here as well and the people who is Nani's and Bubbles' replacement voice actors do a good job at sounding similar to how they sounded like in the movie. Yet, I somehow still feel some enjoyment playing this game, despite it's basicness. I don't why, perhaps I really enjoy the Classic Crash game formula a lot that it doesn't bother me but it is what it is.

Koa Wood is the first level. Like I said that levels are pretty basic, so expect me to not have much to say about these levels. That said though, this level serves as a tutorial to Lilo's gameplay style. She doesn't have a lot of moves, but it gets the job done.

Lilo & by extension, Stitch only has a standard jump when pressing X on PS1 & the Space Key on PC, no typical double jump or glide in sight this game, which is fine. Her standard attack is... using Voodoo magic from her doll using Circle on PS1 & the S key on PC.... yeah. (Guess the devs liked that gag scene with Lilo and that Voodoo book she had and made it into a gameplay mechanic). The hitbox can be a bit jank at times but it gets the job done. She can also pick up Red Pots (which is this game's version of the TNT Crates in Crash) before they explode by pressing Square on PS1 & the D key on PC, where you can store the pots and put them back down to hurt enemies whenever the Voodoo is ineffective. She has another move, but it's shown off in a later level.

Every time you complete a stage, you go to a hub which most of the time is one of the areas you see in the movie, which is nice. There, you can go up to a Mail Box to save your game, open up a map to warp to a Level you completed, and go to a path that is available, which usually contains 1 level, but it can sometimes contain 2 levels. But, before you can go to the next level, you have to beat a Rock Monster miniboss to progress... and their all pretty easy.
