Hey players, DJay here with a new arcade longplay on another challenging shmup of the 90's decade, Raiden. 1 loop is cleared in this run.

Description of the game:

Raiden is a vertical scrolling bulletstorm shmup developed by Seibu Keihatsu and published by Tecmo for the arcades in April 1990. Several home ports include the Sega Genesis, SNES, PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16 and Super CD-ROM), FM Towns, MS-DOS, PlayStation and Atari Lynx. An Amiga version was planned, but ultimately scrapped. A re-release was available on mobile phone in 2004, on PlayStation 3 in 2007 via PSN, on Microsoft Windows as a compilation release in Raiden Legacy in 2012 and on Nintendo Switch via Arcade Archives. The game itself draws heavy inspiration from Toaplan shoot em ups since it came out around the same era. Seibu Keihatsu's mascot, Miclus, appears as a bonus item.

Set in the year 2090, Earth has become a target for a deranged alien race, named The Crystals. Following the events of the invasion, a new cutting-edge weapon has being developed by the World Allied Forces and is now a new solution to end the invasion: The new Raiden Supersonic Attack Fighter, a spacecraft based on the destroyed alien craft. As Earth's new hope for survival, two Raidens are dispatched to eliminate them.

Throughout the course of 8 stages, players control the Raiden Supersonic fighters and must destroy the enemies that appear along the way. Some enemies will drop power-ups for the main shots such as Wide Vulcan shots (wide firing range, though less powerful) and a lightning laser (concentrated firing range, but more powerful) and two different kinds of missiles such as nuclear missiles (forward traveling missiles) and homing missiles. The shots and missiles can be upgraded by collecting them again or being fully upgraded by collecting the "P" capsule. If caught in a tight spot, thermonuclear bombs can be used to nullify incoming bullets during the explosion. Shooting crates or some other areas will drop medals and Miclus for bonus points. At the end of each stage, a large boss awaits them and must be destroyed before proceeding to the next stage. If the player gets shot or collides with enemies, a life will be lost (though death shrapnel will inflict heavy damage on enemies as a tactical method). If the game is cleared, the game loops again on a more aggressive difficulty.
