Hey players, DJay here with a new bullet hell shmup longplay on the PlayStation with one of Raizing's arcade hits, Terra Diver/Soukyugurentai.

Description of the game:

Terra Diver (Soukyugurentai in Japan) I'd a vertical scrolling bulletstorm shmup by Eighting-Raizing released in arcades in September 1996 on the Sega Titan (ST-V) system board, being Raizing's first game to feature 3D graphics. It was then ported over on the Sega Saturn in January 1997 by Electronic Arts and on the PlayStation in December 1997 by Data East with neither port being released outside of Japan. It would be ported on mobile phone in 2005 on Ezweb, Yahoo and I-mode, also exclusively in Japan. This game would take some inspiration from Taito's Ray trilogy. The S.O.Q 004 Swordfish later appears in Dariusburst Chronicle Saviors as a DLC ship in the Eighting-Raizing DLC pack, alongside the Wind Snail from Battle Garegga and Miyamoto from Mahou Daisakusen/Sorcer Striker.

Set in the year 2057, space mining operations are competing against each other in order to find new valuable resources after the exhaustion of fossil fuel on Planet Earth. By doing so, they teamed up with NASA to find them. The resources were the only reliable materials to aid the world economy. However, these operations came to a sudden halt due to the interference of an organization known as Bafu Interstellar Development Inc. To take matters into their own hands, a large company named Jin-Sei (Exhausting Star) decided to step in and counteract against Bafu's evil schemes by deploying special space fighters named Soukyugurentai's (SOQ), space fighters equipped with the unique laser technology fighting system NALS (Non-blind spot All range Laser System). Their top priority is defending Planet Earth from rival companies and space at all costs.

The game consists of 6 stages (7 in the PS1 port) and players can choose between 3 different SOQ's (4 in the PS1 port), each with their own unique weapon capabilities. Two types of weapons include the main shot that is upgradeable and the NALS laser targeting weapon that inflicts extensive damage. When using the NALS laser, it will multiply the score depending on how many enemies were locked on in a sequence. There are two types of NALS weapons, the diffusion type web and centralized web. The game contains a hidden ranking system that increases as the player survives or powers up, causing enemies to become more aggressive. Over time, a container will drop 5 power-up items or a bomb. A bomb can be used as a desperation attack to save the player from being shot by emanating bullets. Collisions with bullets or enemies will destroy the ship, but also reduces the rank to make enemies less aggressive.
