DJay 95 Plays: Samurai Shodown (Arcade) Longplay
4Hey players, DJay here with a new fighting game longplay on a Japanese themed arcade classic, Samurai Shodown/Samurai Spirits.
Description of the game:
Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits in international regions) is a 2D fighting fighting game by SNK released in arcades in July 1993 for the Neo-Geo MVS system board. Home ports include the Game Boy, 3DO, Sega Genesis, Neo-Geo CD, SNES, Game Gear, Sega CD, FM Towns and PlayStation. It was later included in the compilation of SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1 on the PlayStation Portable in 2008. It was SNK's first weapon-based combat fighting game. A reference to Fatal Fury is seen in Jubei's quote. Mai Shiranui, a character from the Fatal Fury series, is present as a cameo character, spotted in Haohmaru and Genan's endings.
In the year 1788, a man had surveyed the unfolding chaos that rendered the world asunder. Soon after, he had slain the Tokugawa Shogunate forces, having obtained dark powers to bring them down. Shiro Tokisada Amakusa, unleashed his power and spread his false creed in an attempt to bring the world to ruin. However, there are still warriors, including the likes of Haohmaru, who put their beliefs to the test. They all make their way to the source of chaos and must destroy it before the world is destroyed.
In the game, players must choose between 1 of 12 playable characters and must fight all of them, including a mirror match, before fighting against Amakusa himself. The opponent's health must be depleted completely using whatever movesets the character has in their arsenal. Throughout every battle, a man will drop items that will benefit either fighter. Food can recover the fighter's lost health and the bomb will damage whoever is caught in the explosion. Sometimes, a weapon clash will occur, during which the player must quickly tap the buttons in order to disarm the opponent. After fighting a certain number of fights, the player will then take on the bonus stage by slicing 10 straw dolls that pop up randomly before disappearing and will have a limited amount of time to do so.
Eliminate all 12 of the samurai warriors and Amakusa himself to save the world from the evil clutches.
