DmC - glitches and observations pt. 3
An assorted collection of small mechanics glitches mostly.
I: Do a Hightime holding the button down, then enter menu during the swing. Timed right, the swing interrupts instantly. Wonder why... Hightime is pretty much the only move in the game you can cancel only by visiting the menu.
II: Hightime interrupts in the same way during a glitched evade buffer.
(Glitched evade buffer is... well, after an Angel Evade you can't do another Evade instantly afterwards. Instead, if you input an Evade, it becomes buffered and resolves after around a second, even if you do other moves in between. No other move buffers like that.)
III: a novelty high jump using air DT and shotgun shots. While the height gain is not bad, the jump is probably too annoying visually, audially and timing-wise to become a preferred jump for anyone.
IV: a novelty high jump using that other Eryx air move and Whip. Nice to know it's possible... now, get back to using Stomp instead.
V: the first discovered infinite jump using Whip and Glide against a wall can be done without a wall as well - the timing just becomes so much harder to do. Not recommended for the sane.
VI: a rare glitched state for Dante. A sort of Angel-mode breakout? I'm not holding down any shoulder buttons, yet Dante is holding out his Angel weapons. He also can't jump. Pressing square (again without using shoulder buttons) caused him to do Angel Lift, then the glitch ended. This instance of the glitch happened when I did the Whip + Glide motion right at ground level, same way as in the Lag City video. But I could never reproduce this result. Maybe it's another lag-based glitch?
VII: there are glitch ledges around the game that Dante can climb but don't lead anywhere, causing him to fall down instantly. You can also do ground move breakouts at this kind of ledges, as seen here. You just buffer a move after the ledge animation, and chances are that it'll come out animation-less. Hightime again stands out as having a pretty odd result... Dante slides down on the ground with some stray momentum, as if unable to land properly while the move was going on. I've seen something similar happen with other moves at another glitch ledge.
VIII: a random shotgun charge shot test. I shot at the enemies, then reset the secret mission. The charge shot stayed in air by itself where the enemy had once been.
IX: if you Angel Lift a secret mission enemy and then despawn the enemy, Dante may enter the glitched Angel Lift animation and fly into the unknown yonder. Either the trick is random or has a very precise timing, but I've had a hard time trying to do this consistently.
(Not on the vid: Demon Pulling a secret mission enemy and then despawning it can cause Dante to freeze on the spot instead.)
X: Dante trying to climb a glitch ledge during an Infinite Glide makes him climb with Gliding momentum (as seen previously in one Findlestick's vid).
XI: you can use Stinger to breach a thin trigger wall unnoticed. Don't mind the DT, it doesn't do anything.
XII: retrying from checkpoint as you enter a secret door... you hear the secret door audio, then the retry happens like normal.
XIII: if you get to the final alleyway chase scene in Under Watch early, you'll find a peculiar set of tables and chairs there. Dante is no match for them, and cannot break them no matter how hard he tries.
XIV: dying inside the Divinity Statue menu.
