Do not activate a Sirius XM satellite radio if told by E-Mail that it is already activated
If you have purchased a Sirius XM Satellite Radio WITH SERVICE INCLUDED (that is to say, you have a number of months of service included) then chances are your satellite radio is ALREADY ACTIVATED. If you find yourself with access to only the Radio ID channel 0 and the Preview channel 1 and try to establish service on your unit by following the instructions that display on the screen of your unit or through following the instructions in the printed materials that come in the retail packaging of your satellite radio (such as the Quick Start Guide) then you may be misled into visiting siriusxm.ca/activate , siriusxm.com/activate or calling 1-877-438-9677 , 1-888-539-7474 and paying extra for services that ARE ALREADY COVERED, such as a one-time activation fee (an additional $25-$30) plus signing up and paying for a minimum term of service (for XM Canada, the cheapest rate is 3 months of service for around $50). What you SHOULD do is instead follow the instructions that come within any of the E-MAIL confirmations that you receive from SiriusXM: they will most likely inform you how to perform a radio refresh, which essentially will establish your activation and service for free without any additional fees to pay (technically, you've already paid for these services to begin with).
