Don't Muckle with that Shuckle - Toytally Fantasy
30Issue 004 of this Animated Comic showcases a Shuckle along with more residents of the Roadrunner Wildlands. More importantly, it’s also the first entry in the Toytally Fantasy series to have some serious lore drops! While I aim to have this comic series to be lighthearted and fun, there will be more serious moments and potentially episodes; I aim for world building, not a totally disjointed episodic set of toys doing their thing. Even small interactions like catching a Pokemon can be packed with a bunch of different pieces and information, even if I effectively made a video about the Don’t Fuckle with Shuckle meme.
In this case, there’s a small platter of random lore bits, even if some are very obvious. For example, how inventories and the relations between toys among other things. I’m trying to make sure lore drop episodes remain consistent while also making sure the dialogue isn’t completely stilted. This episode admittedly feels a bit like it showing off catch and Pokemon style mechanics integrate into a living toy world, but that’s some of the growing pains I’m working out. There will be more for sure and small tweaks along the way, but overall the series still feels consistent so I’m happy about that.
This is also the first comic issue with a recurring character, although there will admittedly be more for sure. Shuckle is definitely one of them!
As DDBuilds’ Flagship solo endeavor, Toytally Fantasy: A Ballad to Imagination is an Animated Comic Series that memorializes childhood playtime, but with an adult’s perspective in the narratives. While mainly light hearted and aiming to be an entertaining kick of nostalgia, this successor to Studs and Bolters aims to create many standalone episodes that piece together a vibrant world of toys and models. Rule of Cool and Creative Deviation form its foundation, where popular figures adapt and grow based on their new lives they lived - and the fellow toys and models they interact with!
