#NoDamage #Gantlet #Commentary

This video includes four successful runs (some clipped) and four outtakes for the challenge of scoring all monsters, items and secrets from a pistol start on Doom 2's Map 03 'The Gantlet' at speed, with no damage taken whatsoever.

When I submitted my 2:40 'record' for 'The Gantlet' to the DSDA in late November 2020, Coincident noticed the demo had a desync so he helped me realise that I had the wrong version of Doom2.wad being used with my PrBoom source port.

Fortunately, when speedrunning this challenge again in late November/early December 2020, I found exciting new tactics for dealing with the chaingunners in the central open area which have helped me complete the proper Map 03 significantly quicker. However, it is still an RNG grind, with groups of shotgun guys and even zombies making it hard to finish the level at speed without taking damage. Also, the imps often don't co-operate, blocking my way into the invisibility secret.

For the outtakes, I did not include obvious examples of being shot in the early stages, but just some of the more interesting ways my tactics go wrong.
