Comparing the Combat of DOOM 2016 and DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Originally this was going to be a comparison of how fast you can fight in both games, but I think this kind of format is better for a showcase of the combat than a "this one is faster and here's why" kind of video (though I got a better idea for that type of video, probably with all 7 Main DOOM Games). Still I got my thoughts on the speed compares on these two games down here.
Notice how I could not be bothered to play The Dark Ages at 100% speed for longer than I needed to (been a while that I did tbh), that speed is so damn slow it's wild that it's the standard for this game, it feels like you're in space even when you have slow motion turned off like I did for this video, the game's "Normal Speed" should've at least been like 120% or 130%, but the fact that the game feels like Black Ops 1 Zombies "Moon" at 100% is crazy.
DOOM 2016 still a solid and fun game that aged like fine wine (except for the most recent update that causes crashes after too many checkpoint reloads, come on iD), much faster than 100% Speed Dark Ages for sure, at least if you're playing it fast like I am here. In a comment on a previous video, I made the comparison of how Eternal to 150% TDA is like comparing a manual car to an automatic, wherein the manual, like Eternal, is tough to learn to truly go fast as hell with compared to the auto which like TDA is easy to pick up and go fast by just stepping on the gas (or pressing W when you have auto sprint on). I think that comparison is true for 2016 to TDA as well, though for 2016 I think it only beats out TDA in speed if TDA is at or below like 110%-120% Game Speed, higher than that TDA starts to beat out 2016, especially at 150% (and tbh I'd argue that 150% Game Speed TDA with the Slow Mo turned off is the Second Fastest DOOM Game ever, only beaten out by Eternal, at least at the Highest Level of play).
