Doom 3 BFG Edition (PC) Gameplay -No Commentary-
I like Doom 3 BFG Edition, even if I prefer the flashlight mechanic of the original Doom 3, and wish BFG Edition still left it as an option to play through the game. I'm not a fan of the duct-tape mod style change they went with here. Vanilla Doom 3 will always be the best way to play the game in my opinion.
That being said, BFG has a ton of extra content, and still a good version of Doom 3. Even though I'm not a fan of the flashilight change, I still love Doom 3, so I can deal with that change. Plus you get Doom 1&2, Resurrection of Evil, and a previously unreleased expansion with BFG edition, so there is a ton of extra content here. I just prefer the original flashlight mechanic, and the darker look of the original.
Overall, BFG Edition is a good release. It's definitely worth picking up. I, personally, prefer the original flashlight mechanic of Vanilla Doom 3, but maybe you'll prefer the changes made in BFG. Either way, I love Doom 3, and I will defend to the bitter end as a great game, and even a great Doom 3 from a now misunderstood era in FPS games.
PS. When are we going to get a ray traced version of Doom 3? Of all the games that scream for a ray traced remaster, Doom 3 should be at the top of the list considering it's emphasis on lighting as a gameplay mechanic.
