A thing called a "wad" forever changed how modding a game could be done, Programs were made to allow people to make the wads and even after 28 years Doom is still at the top of it's game which makes a older shooter player like me happy.
Serenity, the first of 3 wads in the Ity trilogy was released on October 30th 1994 by Bjorn Hermans and Holger Nathrath, and placed in the top 100 doomworld wads at number 5 for 1994, Serenity is a Episode 3 replacement for The Ultimate Doom and contains 8 levels without having a secret level replacement, something that wasn't as common.
Serenity's visuals and mapping have...not aged well on one hand, There's some areas that do have creative placement of textures but there are some questionable placements of ammo, weapons and monsters, A separate music file oddly never has appeared on the Doomworld I.D. archive site, Mapset closes on a poor climax but for it's age it did something unique, Unfortunately, it is horribly outclassed today.
