Anto RetroGamer Presents: the opening title screen and intro theme to Dr. Mario, on the Nintendo Entertainment System (1990) - PAL regions: 1991. Developed and published by Nintendo, Dr. Mario would see a release on many systems, including the arcade as 'Vs. Dr. Mario'. Dr. Mario would also become it's own mini-series, with future iterations being released for the Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, WiiWare (Wii), Nintendo DS , Nintendo 3DS, and various mobile devices.

Dr. Mario is an action-puzzle game similar to Columns and Puyo Puyo. The players must rotate falling blocks and match them up by colour. Unlike these games however, the goal is to actually eliminate all the viruses. Matching four or more colours removes them from play, and matching the colours to the corresponding virus removes that virus. Doing so will take the player to the next level, but the game essentially ends when the capsules fill the playing area.

Dr. Mario also includes a multiplayer option, as seen on the title screen. The goal is slightly different to other games like Tetris: the goal is still to eliminate all the viruses. You can however still lose if playing area becomes full. A best-of-three format decides the winner.
