So, as we close in on the final part within this walkthrough, I usually talk about my final thoughts on the game as a whole (or, at the very least, as much as I can remember by the credits/writing this) and while I do talk about it, I will have to mention some spoilers so, if you haven’t played/seen this before and don’t wish to be spoiled, then you should stop watching (although I’m not sure why you would just watch the final video because you would be so confused, to each their own I guess). So, overall, I did enjoy my time playing this game and I had a lot fun. I think what makes this game work is because of the characters that join our party and the interactions between the player and them. It’s rather fun to see them slowly change/become friends or enemies, which ever path you travel down, through the course of the game and they are likeable/interesting characters. The other NPC's outside of these are kind of hit or miss; I do think Hawke’s family (Our mother and Uncle) were pretty interesting but characters like Thrask and Everette (the Marauder who tried to kill us at the end of the game who I still can’t remember where he was from and I’m too lazy/not compelled or interested in finding out) are gone in the wind after you complete their missions so you never really think of them for very long. I found a little odd that they were reintroducing characters from Act 1 in the final Act because I had legitimately forgot about them. The Character creation was much more limited than the original game which I think upset a lot of people but, I can understand why they did this. The game is more liner than the original game and they wanted you to play a particular person (that being Hawke) so I understand that why they limited you only being a Human and having the same start regardless of class. That being said, I think you could’ve told the same story with a more open character creation like in the previous game. The combat in this game is much easier than in Origins which is both a positive and negative; It’s nice that I’m not being murdered every other fight and having to constantly restart the game but, there are some fights that don’t feel very challenging (there were plenty of fights that I struggled with but I had more trouble fighting Pride and the Revenants than I did with Meredith who is the final boss). I did like how the story was being told (Having Varric retell the story like it was out of a book) and how it was broken into three distinct acts. I will say that I did have some issues with some of the story, mostly with the third act of the game. A lot of it did feel like I was babysitting the two groups and trying to stop them from fighting which I didn’t mind all too much but, when you are forced to murder both of the leaders regardless of which side you take (And I did look this up after the recording session to make sure), it makes you wonder if there was a point to joining either side. I think it was trying a little too hard and painting both sides as Gray (a mixture of good and bad) which I guess makes sense; If you make the Templars seem too evil then no one would join their side and that is the same with the Mages. I just thought that it didn’t really make too much sense in fighting with the side you chose because, again, it makes you wonder if there really was a point to join either side if they both were evil enough to fight. Regardless of some of the end game plot points, I did enjoy my time with this game overall and I’m looking to either live stream/record the third game sometime in the future.
