CHAPTER 3 : DETECTIVE WORK
( STORY )
1. SHAKEDOWN
Objective: Get information on the platinum heist.
There are three steps to this mission. First, you need to drive to the place where your person of interest is waiting in a sports car. There's no time limit, so it shouldn't be difficult to find him.
Once you do find him, a scene follows and then you're driving his sports car. You have a minute and a half in which to scare him so that his heart rate meets or exceeds 180. You can freak him out by driving in the oncoming lane and performing crazy drifts at high speeds.
The third phase is the most dangerous. Goons are chasing after you and you have to lose them. They behave roughly the same as cops would, so just use the same strategies that you always would to elude the fuzz. Remember that you fail if you have too many collisions, so a certain amount of caution is in order. When you successfully escape, a scene follows and the mission concludes.
2. FREEWAY INFERNO
Objective: Stop the ammonia tanker hijacking.
You begin this mission with an Objective: you need to find a hijacked tanker carrying ammonia. Just follow the mini-map until you reach it. The next step, though, is to stop it. You'll do that by racing behind it and then shifting into traffic in the oncoming lanes. They can ram into the vehicle head-on to seriously slow its progress. A few direct hits will make the tanker explode.
Once you destroy that first tanker, you will need to find a second and third tanker. They are traveling together, so follow your map to reach them on the freeway. Then you need to destroy both of them as they cruise toward their destination.
Again, you'll use traffic from oncoming lanes as battering rams. There are a lot of concrete dividers in the way that prevent traffic from crossing over into the oncoming lanes as easily as you might like, so you'll have to make the most of each opportunity. It seems to work well if you alternate between hitting the front truck and the rear one. If you score enough hits on both before they reach their destination, the mission and chapter conclude.
