*– VIDEO INTRODUCTION –*

This playthrough shows:

• three "Perfect!!" rounds of the game modes "Game A", "Game B" and "Game C".

There is no formal ending to the game.

I use a mouse with an on-screen crosshair to shoot the ducks/clay pigeons, which greatly reduces the challenge (and fun!) of the game.

The timestamps for each game mode and its rounds can be found at the bottom of the video description box.

*– GAME OVERVIEW –*

_Duck Hunt_ for the Famicom and Nintendo Entertainment System is a fixed-screen light gun shooter. It was developed by Nintendo Research & Development No. 1 (Nintendo R&D1) with Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. The game was released in Japan on April 21, 1984, in North America on October 18, 1985, and in Europe on August 15, 1987.

This version has also been made available for the Nintendo Virtual Console (VC) service, namely:
- Wii U – Region: Japan – Release Date: December 24, 2014
Region: North America and Europe – Release Date: December 25, 2014

• Beginning with the American launch of the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, _Duck Hunt_ was one of several titles that Nintendo included as a pack-in game with some of its releases:
- the original Deluxe Set, which bundled _Duck Hunt_ and _Gyromite (ジャイロ,_ lit. _Gyro);_
- _Duck Hunt_ and _Super Mario Bros. (スーパーマリオブラザーズ)_ were included in the later Action Set (and the upgraded Basic Set, in which Nintendo put both games on one ROM cartridge – a multicart – rather than separate individual cartridges);
- Along with _Duck Hunt,_ the Power Set added _Super Mario Bros._ and _World Class Track Meet (ランニングスタジアム,_ lit. _Running Stadium)_ as selectable games on a multicart.

• _Duck Hunt_ features a nameless non-playable hunting dog known simply as "Dog".
◦ In Game A and Game B mode, Dog accompanies the player to both flush (scare) and retrieve the fallen ducks. He is notorious for laughing at players who fail to shoot any of the ducks on the screen.

• Before _Duck Hunt,_ Nintendo made a "Duck Hunt" game based on the Laser Clay Shooting System in 1976. (However, some sources claim that it was part of a separate project, the Nintendo Beam Gun series.)
◦ Nintendo's Laser Clay Shooting System was a light gun shooting simulation game released in Japanese bowling alleys in 1973. It consisted of an overhead projector that displayed moving targets behind a background. Players fired a rifle at the targets, and a reflection mechanism determined whether the "laser shot" hit or missed.

• _Duck Hunt_ became a huge commercial success in the 1980s, helping to popularize light gun shooters and selling over 28 million copies worldwide.
