*– GAME OVERVIEW –*
_California Games_ for the Nintendo Entertainment System is a collection of sports mini-games. It was ported by Rare and published by Milton Bradley. The game was released in North America in June 1989 and in Europe in 1990.
• Epyx first brought _California Games_ to the Commodore 64 (C64) home computer in North America in July 1987.
◦ The game is a continuation of the _Epyx "Games"_ series, which includes highly successful titles such as _Summer Games_ (1984) and _Summer Games II_ (1985).
◦ It was ported to various video game platforms throughout the 1980s. The Commodore 64 version was also made available for the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console (VC) in Europe on April 11, 2008, and in North America on July 6, 2009.
• _California Games_ is a collection of outdoor sports supposedly popular in California.
◦ The NES port features all six events from the original Commodore 64 game. Included are: Half-Pipe, Foot Bag, Surfing, Skating, BMX and Flying Disk.
• _California Games_ spawned a direct sequel, _California Games II_ (1990), but it failed to match the success of the original.
