Duel Links - Ghostrick KoG October 2024

This deck is phenomenal, it has control with resource management and pushes that get around destruction. Also got a 14 game winning streak!
More notes are available in the decklist. Make sure your Jiangshi/Fairy/Skeleton are CL1 since they can miss timing as shown when the Shiranui activated an effect when attacking into Jiangshi.
I have been waiting for a long time to get Ghostricks. This skill is amazing and Lyrilusc/Unchained/Yubel are phenomenal matchups. To open with a field, level 1 Ghostrick or Witch to get you a free SS from the deck. For that reason I'm playing 10 targets, (2 fields, 6 L1 and 2 Witches) I'm playing the Jack/Lant line because you can activate skill multiple times but they all need to be unique reveals. The 2 Witch can be very good for baiting out negates even if you summon her from the skill. My usual opening for the skill is to set a Jiangshi and get the turn 1 search. This search sometimes depends on the opponent but I go by priority of Mary, Lantern, Specter and then Jackfrost. This is not concrete because if you don't open a field or don't have an XYZ play on your first turn then I would prioritize Specter over the Lantern, you need to judge resources accordingly. Also consider what you will reveal to your opponent on the followup if you're going to use Specter then it will not be available for you to reveal on the next turn. You should order your reveals accordingly to how you're going to play your turn out. ie: multiple reveal targets in hand I will reveal the cards that I expect to be used in the current turn or next turn and hold like Witch in hand for followup in the grind game.
There are caveats there as well because you don't want to reveal to your opponent the type of handtraps you have so be mindful if they are going to play into a Jackfrost or Mary attack.
Back to the opening, if you have another Jiangshi/Skeleton then you have your Alucard/Angel search. I generally dump Vanish as my first target. For the Ghostrick traps, they are mostly useful only with other Ghostricks so you don't want to be drawing them and it's way stronger to get them off the Alucard/Dullahan detach. Vanish is a good first target but you have to juggle between whether or not you want a field opening or not. You also need to keep in mind how many Ghostrick S/T are left in deck if you don't have any left then you might not be able to detach off get cards back from the grave.
You want to set cards like GoRound Mansion/Museum with Fairy. If you do not set a card with Fairy you do not get the setting of the monsters.
If you've never played Ghostrick, Scare/GoRound/Fairy are all nontargeting sets. They do however target your own cards. So please make sure you chain properly when using Vanish as it stops targeting your own set monsters. When you need to stop XYZ plays you want to prioritize Scare for availability, this is because you can fuse set cards. Needle Ceiling does a lot of work as usual, Drowning can be very solid with either field up, these are very solid against Links and wide boards.
When playing with Doll you want it to be the last card that is attacked into or you can stop with a Go-Round/Scare because this guarantees board presence. As for what you set it really depends on the board your opponent has, if they have S/T and what's in your hand. Jiangshi would be great if you can set 3 cards but otherwise Yuki-onna/Witch for 2 are good. With 2 Mary in the deck if you have to set only one Mary would be the set target.
I am playing 3 Jiangshi/2 Skeleton. This is because my primary XYZ is Alucard and my opening of Jiangshi is to search for the followup turn skill. I'm not playing Mummy because the extra NS never comes up. Stein is not very good because the search is way better with Angel/Dullahan/Alucard detach. It searches in the battle phase which is useless without a MP2. The attack point value also never comes up for both Stein/Ghoul.Skeleton is the only other 3 that does anything off flip on the skill, Yeti protection is useless in the opening and still very weak by the midgame. Warwolf burn damage is actually useless it also gets halved by Mansion.
