Electronic Arts, better known as EA, have been the face of bad video game companies for years now. Everyone loves to hate EA, and for good reason- while basically every company prioritizes self interest above all else, EA seems particularly predatory in its methods, and seems perfectly content putting out bad games with egregious systems in place to wring as much money possible out of the consumer for the smallest amount of reward.

But in the midst of all this, EA has also launched a program by the name of EA Originals, which allows smaller developers to receive funding, advertising, creative control, and all of the net profits. While it seems too good to be true, developers who are part of the program, like Josef Fares, have claimed that EA is making no money directly on the endeavor and all the money is going to the studio. I wanted to highlight EA Originals here, why it's important, how it's giving us some of the most interesting games of the past few years, and whether it will continue to be a bright light in the industry, or quickly show its more malicious intent.
