In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, there's a conceptually simple but difficult to execute glitch you can exploit to get the Tempered Sword before the Master Sword. This trick can easily be performed as soon as Link gets the Power Glove, meaning you can get the Level 3 Sword before fighting Moldorm in the third Pendant Palace.

To perform this trick, you will first need to do the Death Mountain Descent Glitch, and this handsome fellow named KarmaJolt has made a hilarious and educational tutorial on how to do that - https://youtube.com/shorts/25LAvETlohs?feature=share

But after performing the Death Mountain Descent Glitch (DMD) you can bring Link's bunny form to the area south of the Village of Outcasts in the Dark World. In this area, you will see a frog dude hopping just beyond some black stones, which we would normally need the Titan's Mitt to remove.

Now stand below the bottom black skull stone and as far to the left as you can without hopping off the ledge. And equip the Magic Mirror. What you want to do is hold left, but use the Magic Mirror on the exact frame Link begins his hop off the ledge. You should warp to the Light World, and the game will immediately warp you back to the Dark World. If you did it right, Link will be shifted one pixel to the left of his original position (and the visuals should revert back to their normal form instead of their DMD weirdness).

Now do this same maneuver another time: Press the Y button to use the Magic Mirror on the very first frame Link begins his jump off the ledge to the left, and warp back to the Dark World where you will see Link has shifted another pixel to the left.

On the third time you perform this move, you will have control of Link as he warps to the Light World. Walk up the steps above the Mirror's portal and wait until Link becomes fully corporeal again. Then inch your way to the top of the Portal. When Link warps back to the Dark World, he will nearly be in the correct spot. Now one more time, walk to the left, and just as Link begins his jump, use the Magic Mirror again to shift one more pixel to the left. This time when you warp to the Light World, stand still wand warp right back to the Dark World.

If you did everything correctly, you should be able to walk straight up and speak to this frog, who will begin to follow you.

Now hop down from the ledge like a rabbit/frog and head back to Kakariko Village in the light world. Not sure why this guy couldn't jump down from the ledge on his own in the first place...

But! When you bring him back to his home, he will offer to temper your sword for 10 rupees. Doing this allows you to get the Tempered Sword WAY early, and SKIP the Master Sword entirely.

Note that once you acquire the third pendant, instead of going into the Lost Woods to grab the Master Sword, you can head straight to the Sanctuary where you will see the Priest has been slain, and you can ascend the castle to fight Aghanim as if you've just obtained the Master Sword. Grabbing the Master Sword AFTER performing this glitch will downgrade your sword to the Master Sword.
