OK guys, after months of anticipation, the presumably first Elden Ring DLC has been announced. Not only was it announced seemingly out of nowhere, It will be available to play Dec. 7th, which if my calculations are correct is tomorrow. This DLC will be free and provides a new way to experience PVP battles. Bandai Namco released a short teaser trailer titled ELDEN RING, Free Colosseum update trailer.
The description of the trailer reads,
Come forth, warriors, and bask in the glory of the Colosseum.
The Colosseums of Limgrave, Leyndell and Caelid will open their gates, allowing players to engage in battles such as duels, free-for-alls and team fights.
Prove your worth in the free Colosseum Update. Coming December 7.

A couple things I'd like to point out.
This trailer shows the use of Spirit ashes which is kind of interesting. WilI there be a special mode just for the use of summons? guess we'll have to find out later tonight or tomorrow.
Another thing I'd like to highlight is the 3v3 showdown that's toward the end of the trailer. Reminds me a lot of the Dark souls 3 PVP scene.
One thing i really hope to see is a leaderboard of some kind.
Dark souls 2 really sticks out to me in this regard. Remember the Glowing Aura players could unlock after a certain amount of successful PVP battles? I'd really like to see something like this make a return.
Dark souls 3 also offered a feature in the arena's that kept track of wins and basically ranked you on your kill death ratio.
It's really good to have some news and to have it releasing immediately is great. However, I can't help but feel a little bummed that theres no mention of PVE expansion yet.
Will fromsoft still announce a Mainline paid DLC at the game awards? My thinking is it's possible but with the announcement of the colosseum I think our odds just plummeted. What we do know is, even if there is no announcement at the Game awards, From Software will be announcing something soon.
