Basic Challenge Rules
- I can only attack the boss off of a Guard Counter. No normal attacks, melee or magic or consumables are allowed
- An exception is that I am allowing myself to riposte a boss if they are poise broken. The poise break is a reward for consistent Guard Counters so I feel I should take the free damage

After some thinking about potential fun but unique challenge runs to do, I decided that I wanted to do something similar to my Guard Parry run in Lies of P but in ER; going through the game and beating bosses while only attacking them with Guard Counters. I am however, allowing myself to deal damage with ripostes because I feel like I should be able to take my reward of free damage if I manage to get a poise break. The biggest twist to this run though to spice things up even more is I won’t be using a shield, I’ll be using a weapon to block and Guard Counter instead. (I also chose this because I think it looks cooler to counter blocking with a weapon lol) As of the writing of this post I’ve started the run and it’s honestly been a lot more fun than I was thinking it would be so far. It’s been enjoyable figuring out which attacks are safe to guard counter, it’s like learning the bosses patterns again but also apply prior knowledge of their attacks to know what’s coming. While I’m not really aiming for super “clean” runs, I also want to be strategic with my Guard Counters and not just tank damage when using them every time. I’ll probably be using the Guts Greatsword for most of the run but I may switch it up to the Ruin’s Greatsword once I get it. I use the UGS because they have the highest damage reduction while doing the most damage per hit
