Ember's adrift, the independent hardcore PVE mmo in the mold of an Everquest Classic that relies heavily on social gameplay, slow progression and challenge has changed their monetization model to the benefit of players.

The game is going Buy to Play with an optional subscription and keeping the lower priced tiers which should ease access for the game while also allowing the indie company to continue active development for the game, something they've been hard at work at since they launched adding new content for free and releasing a roadmap of all the new mmo content coming to the game for the rest of 2023.
