This is episode 24 in a series I'm putting out on popular and powerful endgame uniques.

This is the most complicated item added to Path of Exile since Timeless Jewels were added in Legion.

In short, it ruins your life recovery, ruins your energy shield entirely, and allows a heavy investment into life leech to provide massive defensive bonuses.

It's a fairly rare drop from Ultimatum encounters.

Mahuxotl's Machination adds 5% unconditional maximum chaos resistance and an additional, very much conditional, 5% to ALL maximum resistances (total 10% for chaos) - providing enormous defence but at an enormous price. No life regeneration, no defensive uses for energy shield, a requirement to max out chaos resistance, and a requirement to leech a lot of life.

Is it worth jumping through all of those hoops? For most people, the answer will be no - but the power IS there, if you are willing to sacrifice for it.
