The waves are locked into hard mode, which makes them easy at first. Unfortunately, they'll level up every five waves, making it harder to keep going.

Edit: I stand corrected. Enemy stat multipliers are slightly different from hard mode and your current difficulty setting might actually affect limit break charge gauge and enemy status infliction rates.
