Developed by Software Creations and published by Sony Imagesoft in late '93 (Q1 1994 outside Japan), it was originally in development as early as 1991 but was met with delay after delay, making it one of the most delayed games on the SNES. Being the follow-up to the NES game, Solstice (It's properly noted as Solstice II in-game and sold as such in Japan), it's an excellent blend of Action and Puzzle, with some light RPG elements thrown in for good measure. If this game was released sooner, it probably would have had a much bigger impact, but remains interesting and enjoyable nonetheless, with a thin story and a certain feeling of loneliness.

Playing as Glendaal, son of the previous hero, Shadax, you are picking up where Shadax left off. Since the defeat of Melkior by the wizard Shadax, Galadonia was a peaceful kingdom. With his fears abated, Melkior left to tutor Sonia in the ways of magic, and all had seemed well... until one day, when fierce storms ravaged the land and evil monsters began to emerge, wrecking havoc and chaos. It appears that Sonia has disobeyed Shadax's teachings and is trying to take over the kingdom, and is now keeping Shadax hostage. You must travel the land, defeat Sonia's minions, solve her many puzzles, surpass her many obstacles, learn magical spells to give you a fighting chance, and rescue your father.

The goal of the game is to travel from area to area and defeat area bosses to progress closer to Sonia's Ice Fortress. While the puzzles are challenging (getting hit starts a room over), boss battles are just as challenging, as you must defeat them without getting hit (or you'll repeat the battle from the beginning). You can find items to heal you as well as improve your abilties in battle and grow stronger as you progress.
