"ESWAT: City Under Siege" is a side-scrolling action game developed by Sega for the Sega Genesis console. Released in 1990, the game puts players in the role of a cybernetically enhanced police officer in the year 2029, tasked with taking down a powerful crime syndicate that has overrun the futuristic city.

Initially armed with a basic gun, you navigate through the early stages, employing standard walk, jump, and shoot mechanics. However, as you progress, you ascend through the ranks, eventually donning a powerful cybernetic suit equipped with an array of advanced weaponry and abilities. From rocket booster boots enabling brief flight to collecting special weapons from defeated adversaries, your arsenal expands considerably.

The game's controls are initially great, offering responsive handling. However, upon acquiring the cyber suit, maneuverability becomes cumbersome, particularly with the rocket boost function. Movement feels sluggish, and turning around takes an exorbitant amount of time, leaving you vulnerable to enemies who exploit these limitations.

While early stages has detailed backgrounds with nuanced lighting effects, later levels suffer from repetitive scenery and lackluster detail. Character designs, including enemies, appear uninspired and lack depth, detracting from the overall experience. Despite its shortcomings, the game warrants recognition for its attempt at innovation, even if it doesn't always hit the mark. Overall, "ESWAT: City Under Siege" offers an enjoyable and challenging experience.
