Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Gone Bye Bye part 5
1Welcome SimuSquad to another glorious adventure with Eternal Darkness on Nintendo GameCube! This is the 5th part of the run, and almost all of chapter 9. Don't worry, you'll see why it's most of the chapter.
We pick up in World War 1, the War to End All Wars! We are in a familiar cathedral that has always been a place for things to go wrong. We meet our new hero, a newspaper reporter named Jacob Peters. He sits inside a field hospital that has taken up residence in the cathedral. Looking around we find a letter containing new orders for a guard blocking a room. With the guard gone, we enter to look around. A loud boom is heard, and the power goes out. Before we can leave the room, we end up in the tomb of the Tome of Eternal Darkness. We see more statues of heroes from previous levels. It seem that there is only room enough for one more statue, but that is a thought for another episode. Once we have the book, we are allowed to enter the cathedral, and start to explore the now monster infested building. We have to turn the power back, so we can look around for the new power circle. We need it to use it, so we can reveal a hidden door to get to the boss. I do a bit of wondering as I explore, and try to puzzle out how to get the generator running. We need it to active the pipe organ, and open up the cabinet that contains a needed item. We also find the circle we are missing after using a spell we haven't used before to unblock the door of the room containing the circle. After figuring out the new repository of spells for the new circle, we make our way to the boss. The boss is a creature that killed a previous hero, but that hero wasn't the last one it would kill. It killed me several time over the hour I fought it, but it took a long time to find out how to fight in phase 2. We'll have to kill it next time!
