Eve online How To: Structure Browser + Access Lists (upwells)
TL;DR - The ins and outs of getting beyond the default access list for your structures.
...
*note that i do make mistakes of misunderstanding through the video but correct them as i go along...sorry for the length but i figure my stumbling isn't just me and it would be good to show that you folks aren't the only ones having difficulty*
Basically, you cannot edit your default ACL that is also tragically named identically to your default Profile (structure browser)...which i'm sure confuses people to no end.
in effect, the ability to control access to structures is NOT user friendly. The loopholes that allow abuse are big enough to drive a titan through sideways.
to summarize what the video illustrated:
1. default ACL is not editable
2. default profile is editable
3. an equal sign icon on any and all upwells insystem means the system is updating your current access rights...patience.
4. in order to allow docking, renting offices, gunnery, cloning (if the service is online), etc - you must edit the profile being used by the structure.
5. in order to add a proper access list you have to create one and populate it with those you wish to allow access (that can include everyone) - best way is to right click on any folder in the profile settings in the browser - while you're looking at step 4 (above) - and choose "manage access list"
6. see step 1 (you need to create a new one cuz the default won't let you add anything to it)
7. you cannot drag and drop corps/alliances onto the admin/manager role, only 'member' and 'blocked'
8. if you add 'everyone' to an access list you then must ensure that folks you don't want access to be dragged onto the 'blocked' role.
9. you do NOT need to hit 'save' when editing your custom ACLs
10. when dropping ACLs onto a structure profile tabs you must drag onto the FOLDER not below it
11. in order for the edit to take effect you must hit 'save' before moving to the next tab in the profile...patience
12. in order to check if you've done it right, click the "any profile" in your left pane of the structure browser (if you get an error you know you effed up somewhere.)
13. be incredibly careful not to drag an ACL onto the "control" folder which has "everyone" added as a member to the former, because the latter gives them gunnery control
14. in the future, if you edit your ACL used by the structure, that structure's profile will update automatically.
15. if you goof up and a Wartarget or other undesirable is able to take control and sit AFK, a director of the corporation (or ceo) and force a release of the offender's control of the structure. (not acl admin/manager; actual owning corp's ceo/director)
16. if a wartarget gains control they can shoot the owner's corp members (as long as they aren't tethered)
uhm...i think that covers everything
i like to make different profiles in the structure browser because that way i can slightly alter my fees in order to view the corporate master wallet to see who is using what services where...which i used yesterday to evemail a dozen characters about a couple of my cloning servicing shutting down
