This looks like a daunting part of the Ex2PG, but only if you don't save halfway, as you don't have the ability to Flee here. Just a series of activating bloodstones and getting treasures for the first part. The library screen has no encounters until you head towards Mogsam. At some point, I would recommend setting up for Vaila Pira before you save, as follows...

Equip Freya with the Holy Lance, and Angel Earrings (she should have Cross Helm, Diamond Gloves and Chain Mail), optimize Quina, Dagger, and Vivi in that order and give him the Mage Staff, Fairy Earrings, and Silk Robe. Dagger gets a Mythril Vest and Opal, and Quina gets a regular Fork, Survival Vest and Fairy Earrings. Dagger and Quina should have Egoist's Armlets on after optimizing. If not, make sure they have them! Finally, Quina's Ability Up, and Vivi's Reflect-Null need activated. Freya should have Ability Up, Bird Killer and MP Attack active so double-check.

Deliver the letter and save.

The screen with the magical staircase does not have encounters so this save is just about getting by Vaila Pira.

After the bloodstone checks, you want Dagger (who can fail casting magic due to the plot) to Berserk Freya and then Vivi casts Sleep right after Freya takes her attack stance in Berserk mode. As great as the Holy Lance is for this point in the game, a Level 1 Freya plus the element boost from the Angel Earrings, Bird Killer and MP Attack are not enough to win the fight with two attacks. Plus we don't have Night to make things easy. That's where Sleep comes into play, as the damage increase from that also stacks with the other boosts.

If Vaila Pira does get to act, Reflect is the only thing you want to see. Vivi's Reflect-Null ensures Sleep will go through its barrier. Once Freya goes automatically, Vivi should put Vaila Pira to sleep right away allowing Freya to get the killing blow. Everyone needs AP from this fight so don't accept anything less. This segment is just the boss fight so it's very short.

Activate the final candlebra and return to Mogsam and save.

Before entering the teleporter, remove Dagger's Egoist Armlet. As Zidane, just make your way back through the airship dock. The path is the same as before so it can be done encounter-less again, but it is such a small chance. I have watched Reverv, a segmented runner do it, so its possible as crazy as it sounds. Once back in Kuja's chamber and Eiko gets kidnapped, pick up the Namingway Card as it's the only one left in the game. You can do a manipulation if you want a specific arrow configuration. In theory, an encounter-less 3rd pass through the dock is possible as the distance to run to the screen transition is shorter now.

Take Vivi, Freya and Amarant to the Lost Continent, and save outside Esto Gaza.
