Ex2PG Combined Stats - 30 Battle at the Iifa Tree
Mognet Letters: Read From Stiltzkin to Mocchi
The start of this segment is identical to the first trip to the Iifa Tree, minus that long 5th screen on the root. This segment took over a week to secure as crazy as it sounds. The fights were not co-operating.
Keep your party the same going into the roots, but before leaving the fourth screen where the cutscenes begin, make the following equipment changes for AP purposes...
Equip Eiko with the Lamia's Flute, Bandana, Bone Wrist, and Emerald. Optimize Zidane, Amarant and Vivi in that order, then give Zidane The Ogre, Black Belt, and Adaman Vest. Give Amarant the Brigandine and activate his Ability Up. Activate Insomniac for Vivi, de-activate Zidane's Counter and Man Eater then activate HP+20%, Insomniac, and Auto-Potion. Full heal Zidane and Vivi and move everyone to the back row.
The original intended plan was to switch Amarant out for Dagger before the first fight with a pair of Mistidons. This gives you two Silence casters and Dagger being knocked out has no penalty as she isn't learning abilities. I opted to leave Amarant in for the first fight, so he will have extra AP.
Stop the Mistidons, that's it. For the first pair, Amarant doesn't need to be alive for AP if he is in the party, but everyone else needs the AP.
Key Abilities Learned: Zidane - Counter
If Dagger was in the first fight, she will leave forcing Amarant to fill in for the second fight with a lone Mistidon. Zidane, Amarant, and Vivi need AP so make sure those 3 are good before the Stop spell succeeds. You want to have at least one casting of Stop left after the second fight
After the two fights, head up to Mocchi and read a letter and save!
Target Time - 6:46:41, Random Encounters - 0
On the reload, equip Eiko with the Extension before going down the root, this isn't really needed unless you want to learn Level Up for her later.
On the root, just run to the bottom, but you will get at least one forced encounter on the way. Only accept a single Mistidon fight and one Stop is all you should need. It is possible to get all the way to the end without an encounter but the chance of that is insanely small. Once the water in the background moves out of frame, you're at the end. I saw it in a speedrun attempt recently.
After the fall of Brahne, the long and rough Disc 2 is over!
Target Time - 6:51:30
