In this previously thought lost clip from 20-9-2014 I check out the Android-X86 operating system on the Netbook after installing it. I play some games and hook up a controller. It works surprisingly well.
On Android-x86:
Android-x86 is an open-source project that allows you to run the Android operating system on x86-based computers, such as those powered by Intel or AMD processors. Originally, it started as a way to host patches for Android x86 support from the open-source community, but it has since evolved into a full-fledged project that provides a complete Android experience on PCs and laptops.
The project aims to offer a seamless Android experience on x86 platforms, allowing users to enjoy Android apps and features on their desktop or laptop computers. It supports various installation methods, including booting from an ISO file or installing it directly onto a USB drive, making it a versatile option for those who want to run Android on their non-mobile devices.
On NETBOOKS:
Netbooks are small, lightweight, and affordable laptops that were designed primarily for basic computing tasks such as web browsing, email, and word processing. They first gained popularity in the late 2000s as an inexpensive alternative to traditional laptops, especially for users who needed a highly portable device.
Netbooks typically have screen sizes ranging from 7 to 12 inches, limited storage capacity (often utilizing solid-state drives or low-capacity hard drives), and low-power processors like Intel Atom or AMD's mobile processors. These devices usually run lightweight operating systems, with many early models featuring Linux, while later models commonly ran versions of Windows, such as Windows XP or Windows 7 Starter.
Their appeal was largely due to their portability, affordability, and decent battery life. However, as tablets and more powerful ultrabooks became more popular, the demand for netbooks decreased. By the mid-2010s, many manufacturers had shifted their focus away from netbooks to other portable computing solutions.
