=======================
Hello everyone! I know it has been a while, but here is the beginning of a brand new series on this channel titled, Exploring Harmony. This is a series that will focus on taking a given progression and pushing it in different directions. This will exclusively focus on generalized Harmony, meaning we're not too focused on Melodic content, Part-Writing, etc.
Even if you aren't strong with Theory, my goal is to still provide insight into how you can approach changing Harmony you ALREADY KNOW.
This episode covers the goals of the series and our initial approach to variations. This is a basic starting point, but by the time our journey reaches its end, odds are you won't even recognize the progression in comparison to where we began!
TECHNICAL NOTE: I got a new handheld recorder and I'm still learning how best to record with it regarding proximity, noise floor, etc. That said, the quality will increase as we proceed forward in the series.
Additionally, I am not interested in sticking true to a single school of Music Theory, but I will try my best to not offend anyone with my choices in terminology. If you get bent about the enharmonic of a diminished chord or that I didn't label the inversions of my notation (i.e. Figured Bass practice) or I said "CAD 6/4" instead of "I 6/4" or "V 6/4" despite there already being huge disagreement on which term to use... well... you can kindly leave this channel and cool off.
I am a conglomeration of schools of thought because I never really fit into a single mold. I was never exclusively interested in a particular style of music, so I'm always checking out a variety of theories.
