Eyes Wide Shut: Hidden In Plain Sight (Chapter 9: DUALITY & DOPPELGÄNGERS)
0Eyes Wide Shut explores themes of duality and doppelgängers, using doubling and repetition to mirror characters and events. Bill Harford’s journey begins after his wife shares a fantasy, leading him into a world where reflections of his life unfold. From identical set pieces to characters with similar names and mirrored actions, the film blurs reality and fantasy. Doppelgängers appear throughout, such as Carl, who resembles Bill both in appearance and role, and the concept of twinning ties deeply to ancient mythology, suggesting a deeper exploration of identity, reality, and hidden desires.
This is a passion project of mine, inspired by an essay by Nik Dobrinsky. I’ve incorporated voices from FakeYou.com, created by Vegito1089, and added some artistic touches to make it more engaging—such as having a fictional HAL-9000 narrate the story, which will evolve as the series progresses. I hope there are no copyright issues, as I have no intention of monetizing this for personal gain. All rights belong to their original owners, including the essay by Nik Dobrinsky, which I’ve used as a basis for this narrative.
