0In Eyes Wide Shut, Bill receives a call from Alice while in Domino’s bedroom, hinting at his near-infidelity. As Alice waits at home, Blume in Love, a film about a cheating husband, plays on her TV. This choice isn’t random; Blume in Love was directed by Paul Mazursky, an early Kubrick collaborator. The scene visually mirrors Bill and Alice’s experiences: Bill by a mirror, Alice by the TV, each symbolizing hidden truths and their marriage’s tension. Reflecting Kubrick’s deep references, the film layers imagery of duality and reflections with nods to Jungian psychology and Lolita, tying the narrative to themes of desire, betrayal, and shadow selves.
This is a passion project of mine, inspired by an essay by Nik Dobrinsky. I’ve incorporated voices from FakeYou.com, created by Vegito1089, and added some artistic touches to make it more engaging—such as having a fictional HAL-9000 narrate the story, which will evolve as the series progresses.
