Pros:
β
interesting twist on a classic series
β
graphics area great combination of authentic looking visuals with a solid current gen frame
β
25 and 50 modes in tutorial are a lot of fun
Cons:
β 99 cars may be too much
β unless you can get out front early, it can be a frustrating experience
Verdict:
π Good value for the money. Of course the game is free soβ¦ π
All joking aside, F-Zero 99 is a very interesting battle royale take on the classic SNES game that can certainly be a lot of fun. But one reason itβs really fun, is because itβs free. I canβt imagine liking it as much if it were $19.99.
The battle royale approach itself is fun, but 99 cars at once might be a bit too much. In the training mode, you start out playing with 25 cars, then you move up to 50 cars, and both of these modes are great. But then you unlock the main game - 99 mode, and chaos ensues.
Frankly I more fun with the 25 car mode in training, but hey, itβs free.
You should definitely check it out if you have a Nintendo Switch with a Nintendo Online account.
[This is a new format I'm trying out, and I'd love to know if you found the above information interesting and informative. Let me know in the comments.]
