A reimagining of the classic Atari adventure! Players take control of Lyn Graves, the precocious niece of legendary treasure hunter Zachary Graves. Lyn visits her uncle’s mansion with her closest compatriots, only to find the house overrun with ghouls and monsters who quickly grab and spirit away her friends. In order to free her uncle and her friends, and capture all the supernatural foes, Lyn must find the shattered pieces of a magical urn and put them back together.

Pros:
✅ good looking cartoony graphics
✅ interesting spin on the classic game
✅ competent controls and gameplay loop
Cons:
❌ not very spooky
❌ doesn’t appear the collectible cartridges are playable
❌ even at $20 you can find much more compelling experiences
Verdict: Just Ok 👋
At $20 it’s a decent enough refresh of a classic game to be interesting for nostalgic older gamers, but you could definitely wait on a sale.
It seems Atari really struggles to find a compelling way to remake Haunted House into a truly compelling and enjoyable game you would want to pay full price for. At some point a full on M-rated scary reboot may be warranted.
