Facing Unsafe Conditions in the Flooded Fenner Tunnel!
The Fenner Tunnel is a flooded, dangerous, abandoned mine tunnel that is part of the nearby Big Horn Mine complex high up in the Angeles National Forest. A spectacular, one-mile hike on the old mining road takes you right to the tunnel entrance. Dug in 1915, the Fenner Tunnel was another attempt at expanding the already impressive Big Horn Mine workings. However, most reports say that the Fenner Tunnel ended up being a dud. If one is brave enough to make it all the way to the end of this sketchy tunnel, one will find a soaked wooden ladder ascending an unknown height. It is not known whether this ladder connects to anything else or leads to more underground workings.
