Fast Fusion - WipEout on Switch 2 (Review)
It's just a shame that there hasn't been a new Wipeout title in years. But at least there are imitators, like the brand-new Fast Fusion, which has now been released for the Nintendo Switch 2. You can't avoid it at launch, since the lineup only includes three games, and I'm not going to accept the clusterfuck of Welcome Tour! The Munich-based indie developer Shinen Multimedia is responsible for the title. With Fast RMX on the first Switch and Fast Racing Neo on the Wii U, they've already proven that they're pretty good at copying Wipeout and also capturing the good old F-Zero vibe.
And to be honest, Fast Fusion really does look like a real racing title that we could also find on major consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox. The various tracks, in particular, are breathtakingly beautiful, and the expansive vistas at the start of a race showcase the detail and depth of each intergalactic setting. While each track is connected by industrial sections of gleaming metal, the different landscapes alternate between the traditional future vision with its towering metal and glass structures and lush forests. Each track also presents different hazards for the pilots.
