It's only the second video in the epic series of FF3/6 Low Level Game and things are already getting extreme! This leads to an inevitable conclusion, this is the greatest video game challenge men have come up with!

Vargas:

This is not so bad actually, but if you do it sloppily you won't finish the battle with the full party alive.

He starts with two Ipoohs standing in front of him and can not be attacked until they are destroyed... Edgar does the best damage so he gets the Auto-Haste accessory, Terra helps him out a bit with Fire and Locke attacks.

However, it's a bad idea to go all-out in the very beginning of this battle, because Gale Cut does severe damage to an entire party, meaning everyone should be at (at least) over 50 HP before it is used. Consequences of this move are removed with Terra's full-party Cure.

Bio Blaster actually does more damage than AutoCrossbow, *normally*, but with an Atlas Armlet equipped on Edgar the latter is still slightly more effective.

Anyway, Sabin makes his appearance and one-hit KO's the boss. Hooray for Sabin, one of the best characters in this low level game!

Ultros:

This is not just hard, this is unbelievably gruesome! Despite being a very early boss, Ultros is a test of your skills and patience, one that many players simply do not pass or can not be bothered to.

Our goal is to reduce 3000 of Ultros's HP while having Banon stay alive at all costs (a game over otherwise). Simple? How about NO?

Banon is at level 2, has awful defences and abysmal HP. He only survives Ultros's attacks while defending and at full HP. The same applies to another weakling amongst us, Terra, but we don't need to keep her alive (although in this battle she does stay alive during its entirety, quite surprisingly).

Sabin has Auto-Haste, being the best damage dealer in the party with his AuraBolt Blitz. Edgar helps by attacking too and gets pwnt by the end of the battle with a tentacle. Oh noes.

You will notice that I quite comfortably manage to defend at the right time AND heal (with defences off during this time, obviously)without having anyone killed at the end of the battle.

I may be giving a wrong impression, but this battle is really hard. You need to know Ultros's attack pattern and know what exactly you are doing with each action, if you don't want to see the Game Over screen for the 100th time.

So, what is his attack pattern, you may ask? I have no bloody idea. After fighting him about half a hundred times in a row, however, I feel like I know what he's going to do by instinct, therefore it may seem like I am reading the computer's mind, whereas the success in this battle is just a fruit of many insuccessful attempts ending as utter failures.

P.S. There is an easier way of dealing Ultros. Banon is a guest that does not affect the party's levels and he can level up. Simply kill everyone and have him level up. That's what I did when I took this challenge in the GBA version, but this time I suddenly decided I am HARSHCORE! Haha. :P

This was certainly fun, and the best thing is that this challenge is full of battles of similar difficulty. I'm lovin' it!
