Chrono Trigger - LLG Part XXXIII: Final Battles, Lavos Core
The video that concludes my long Chrono Trigger Low Level Game series. Thanks to everyone who has been following it, you guys have been great support! Much thanks to big_kake too, without whose detailed FAQ I would have found it extremely difficult to deal with many of the extreme bosses, not to mention that I wouldn't have distributed the experience gain the right way!
The game is finished! My final levels are as follows:
Crono - level 1
Marle - 4
Robo - 16
Frog - 15
Lucca - 15
Ayla - 20
Magus - 37 (I have never used him, ever, backtrack to the previous videos if you have disbelief)
The average level of the only low level party that can win the game is... SEVEN! You heard it correctly.
The inner Lavos is a very hard battle, but we are not expecting anything light at this point. We open the battle by using Lifeline, which is the biggest necessity at this point.
The middle part has quite a few attacks that take out the entire party, and they depend on the time the battle takes place in. All of them are deadly, although the fractional attack is obviously not a menace as it is unable to kill us. Furthermore, Robo is able to survive Evil Star, whilst Crono and Marle (with lightning absorbing White Mails equipped) are able to withstand his lightning attack, which hits one party member at a time.
The battle is won if the right part falls, and it happens to have the most HP of all three parts of the inner Lavos. If we take the other two out, however, the only thing the right bit is able to do is to revive all other parts with Active Life and temporarily increase its defence.
Basically, we take out the left bit first (with its miserably 3000 HP), then concentrate on the central part. A lot depends on luck here, as both Crono and Robo tend to miss quite often. Auto-Revive from Lifeline is obviously the top priority here, "vitality over violence".
Once the right bit remains on its own, throw all you've got at it. We need to do as much damage as possible before the bits return back to life. When it puts up its defence, we wait.
Once the bits come back (and hopefully we've damaged it severely), we take out the left and the right parts again, in the order written.
Now, once they are dead, chances are you are out of Auto-Revive. It makes sense to renew it, which is what a sane person would do in order to survive in this long battle, but I felt like going for a risk there and thought I would just take out the right bit without seeing those nasty left and central parts again.
I was wrong and they came back and I risked again, ignoring attacking them AND using Lifeline altogether and took out the right bit.
If you ever come this far in this challenge, do NOT repeat this, seriously, unless you use a calculator to know how much HP exactly the right bit has left (it has 30,000 total). I didn't even do that, ironically.
Well, that's it! This sums up one of my best gaming experiences, I hope it was fun to watch! See you.
P.S. I browsed the comments on the other low level video recorded by a Japanese gamer, and I got to warn you: I will not tolerate any nonsensical "you cheated" comments, as having done the entire challenge the hard way, without cheats, I will take offense hearing that manner of response.
If you don't believe how I passed a certain point in the game, use the playlists section to see how exactly it was done, I recorded every single boss battle in the game.
Here's a little FAQ, explaining how this challenge is possible. If you post an ignorant comment, I will not care that you couldn't be arsed to read this and delete it right away.
Q. How on earth can one complete the game at such low levels?
A. We use many things to our advantage. If you watch different vids you will see that the choice of strategies is rather rich, and various tactics are used. Elemental armours are invaluable and are a great help in surviving many of the most disastrous attacks.
Healing is vital in most battles, as are protective items, like Barrier and Shield.
Q. Crono is level 1 and knows techniques? Don't you need to fight battles to learn them, thus earning experience?
You do, that's right. However, Wallet, an accessory available upon our first visit to Zeal, turns all experience into Gold! This means three things:
a) we are able to fight bosses without having to level up.
b) we can master any techniques we need.
c) we no longer have to worry about farming Shelters and selling them for Gil!
Q. How are you able to deal impressive damage at these levels?
A. The answer is simple. We have completed the sidequests this game offers and have the best weapons for Crono, Marle and Robo, as well as others.
In addition to that, we exploited Tubster, a monster inside the Black Omen, who you can steal infinite Power Tabs from. Crono, Ayla, Robo and Frog have their power stat maxed thanks to that.
I'm running out of space, can't add any other FAQ Q/A's. Sorry.
